Painting by Numbers
Tuesday, January 21, 2014
The painting is from my first foray into live auctions. This painting came with another of an english village and a "back to the op shop" framed cat poster. Oh, and there was just a little fabric. Enough to clothe a whole Von Trapp family escaping through the mountains.

Gosh it really does look like an Austrian or Swiss village or even somewhere in the South West of Germany *sigh* I miss views like this
ReplyDeleteLOVE the hydrangeas also
The hydrangeas a re a love hate thing- they start of an almost fluro blue (if that is possible) and only after horrifying me, turn a dusky shade of blue and later dark red.
DeleteI have a soft spot from Austrian mountain scenes too, they reminds me of bruises and hangovers and many a snowboarding escapade of my youth! i am falling for the charms of the paint by numbers too...slowly!
ReplyDeleteSnowboarding!?? Such legendary escapades. I have to admit paint by numbers used to make me cringe too. Now I just have to convince one of my daughters to let me hang this in her room.
DeleteThere certainly is something charming about a "sound of music"-esque scene isn't there. Really gorgeous. The funny thing is - at first glance it looked to me like the mountain was falling over to the left, but when I look carefully is really isn't... strange trick of the eye.. haha... anyhoos... xx
ReplyDeletePerhaps there is a market for paint by numbers scenes of cataclysmic events - starting with a japanese tsunami woodcut and moving to large scale land slides and volcanoes?
DeleteLike the picture - great find!

Nice find. Will you reframe it? Or keep as is? :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely keep it as is - I like the subtle white and silver lines.
DeleteYour comments make my day. I would love to hear from you.
