Little Miss Miss-Matched
Monday, May 28, 2012Sometimes the littlest things can be deflating. In this case I was all set to plough through some desperately needed winter sewing. At least I thought I was all set, until I ran out of fabric the striped fabric above. Had I though about it, I would have cut with more care. It was only a small thing, but the wind was truly ripped from my sails and I just needed some time to think.
This dress was my first commission piece and I was so determined that it be perfect. In the scheme of things, the fact that the orange sleeves are not a true match to the striped bodice does not matter, but in my mine it was hard to let go.
So finally, we have the dress, stitched and ready to go to its new home. I look forward to catching glimpses of it around town and thinking that really Little Miss Miss-Matched is just right.

Gosh that autumn toned dress is lovely. And it looks so perfect from here. I suspect its going to be so well received that your worry about an imperection will be gone in a second x
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I'm sure the little wearer was more excited about the double sleeves anyway.
DeleteI agree, the dress looks perfect from here. I had to go back and take a second look after reading the text to even notice that the sleeves were different.
ReplyDeleteI love those colours, they're so nice and warm.
I'm gradually getting the hang of this reply business..my first attempt appears to have got lost in the wash.
DeleteThe colours just seamed to buzz and whisper tempting things like .. retro polo shirts and turtle necks for Africa. Never again will I casually settle for just a remnant.
Wow - I think this dress is fabulous. I had to do a double-take to see that it wasn't a perfect match, too. It's great. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased you liked it. Fortunately the vibrant orange was more forgiving than me.
DeleteYour comments make my day. I would love to hear from you.
