Little Adventure 2 - Rubber Band Motors
Tuesday, April 23, 2013
Today's adventure follows on from yesterday's DIY knitting dolls. We
were showing Granddad the knitting dolls and wooden reels. Before I
could rescue the vegetable knife*, Granddad and E were setting to making
a rubber band motor.
To make you own you will need:
A wooden cotton reel
something sharp - may I recommend a craft knife?
matches
carpet tacks & hammer
a rubber band
An improvised washer - button or nut
Nail 2 tacks into one end of the reel. After cutting a tread into the outer rim at each end of the cotton reel, thread the rubber ban through as shown - with a short matchstick on the tack end.
To the other end thread the longer match stick and washer.
Now, Wind up the longer match-stick and let it go....
